DIY
We are working with learning disabled company DIY to commission two experienced writers who will work with the group to create two short theatre pieces for performance in 2010.
DIY has been running since 1994, and has worked with a variety of other artists in the past, but this is the first time that the group has involved professional writers in creating their shows.
The two chosen writers are Aelish Michael and Danny Start.
From spring 2009 they will be working with the members of DIY to explore ideas and experiences around communication in its many forms. During the summer, the writers will each create the first draft of a script; and during the autumn the pieces will be further developed with the group. The aim is for the pieces to be premiered in spring 2010.
